WE ALWAYS APPRECIATE KIND WORDS

It’s hard to resist waxing poetic about the professionalism and expertise of Joe Cusato and his team. Nine years ago we purchased a 1940’s house in Westchester and were prepared for renovations, but not for Hurricane Sandy’s gift of a huge spruce that landed on our asphalt-tiled roof a few months after the closing. Since then, the repaired roof held up well enough, until a wind-driven rainstorm a few months ago, when water trickling from the ceiling into the foyer was a sure sign that its time was up.

We received proposals from four companies vying to replace the asphalt tiles with a more attractive and durable upgrade — pressure-treated, tapersawn red cedar shake and copper panels, flashing, gutters and downspouts. We chose Cusato Management for four reasons: neighbor endorsements, the highest quality materials, best price, and we were impressed with Joe’s professional, thoughtful demeanor. Most important, he listened to our concerns and weighed each of our requests carefully before offering solutions. When we expressed concern about how the color of the roof and copper would change over time, for example, and how well it would fit with the landscape, Joe invited us to see the same wood-shake and copper roof on his own home, and work he’d done on other homes too. In speaking with one of his former clients, we were told that not only did Joe’s team do excellent work, but Joe himself had been “hands-on” during the course of the job, which we would soon learn for ourselves.

Joe is simply the most knowledgeable, creative builder we’ve ever met, and by far the most attentive too. He checked in often to see how things were going, made immediate changes when we asked for additional work, and made sure we were satisfied with each stage of the job.  His two roofers were not only highly skilled but took great pride in their work. Watching them cut and bend copper sheets to create valleys, flashing and drip edges, standing seam panels and gutters, and then attaching them to the roof, was like watching fine craftsmen at work. They laid the cedar shake with 6” inch exposure and not the standard 7½” exposure. (The 6” requires more wood and results in a higher quality and thicker roof.) We enjoyed watching them carefully cut, lay and taper the wood shake up to and including the ridge cap over repaired underlayment, Grace Ice and Water Shield and cedar breather.

They did such a beautiful job with the roof that we asked them to replace all the side shingles on a large dormer, as it started looking shabby beside the new wood roof and the new and expansive PVC trim sections. We also had him put a new roof and trim on an outlying cabin to match the main house. Next up, we had Joe’s meticulous painters refinish our deck and stain the whole house, which now looks gorgeous, like a brand new home.

It’s rare to find a company that does a first-rate job, start to finish, but Cusato Management Corp. is just that firm. We are grateful to have found them and recommend them highly, without reservation.

Joe Cusato and his team recently completed a 2,600 sq.ft. total renovation of our home. This included four bedrooms, 3 1/2 bathrooms, laundry room, mudroom and kitchen. The work that was performed was done to the highest quality of any efforts we have experienced to date from other contractors. My wife and I have owned and renovated six homes on Long Island in the past. We can honestly say that Cusato Management was, by far, the best work performed on any home for which we have had construction. Under Joe’s watchful eye, the team performed like a well oiled machine.

The respect shown for costs, cleanliness and detailed perfection receives high marks from us. Joe was constantly focused on ways to solve problems, fix issues and save money. This alone is a rare trait in today’s world. We have already recommended Cusato Management to our architect who is working with a new client. Also, Joe and his team will be joining us again very soon to build a deck and pergola. My wife and I wholeheartedly recommend to anyone who is considering a home project to reach out to Joe and his amazing team before settling for less with someone else. Joe, Jay, Victor, and team thank you so much for making the renovation of this house into our home!

Cusato Management transformed the exterior of my 1980's colonial by replacing the roof, enhancing all the trim on windows, adding overhangs, redesigning the front entrance with paneling and beadboard, adding brackets to the garage, and adding a cupola. It looks like a totally different house now! Joe was the best contractor I have ever worked with- responsible, caring, creative, on budget, and a great person.

We recently completed our third, and largest, project with Joe Cusato and his team of professionals. A 12 month undertaking involving an addition of 1,600 square feet and a complete renovation of our turn of the century home. There are no words to describe how positive our experience has been. Joe and his team are consummate and skilled professionals. They provided insight and cost saving solutions along the way. The quality of their work is exceptional and their sensitivity to the owners’ needs is always paramount. We had always heard the ‘horror stories’ of a project this big but there was never any drama. The project came in on time, came in on budget (and sometimes under budget on certain line items) and we are now happily living in the home of our dreams.  We have confidently referred Cusato Management to a number of our friends and we wish them continued success. They deserve it!
